What's wrong with video game hoarding? Some of us enjoy it.

if you're a collector that's cool, that's your hobby or w/e

but for the rest of us, it's just a lot of baggage. you have a ton of old consoles, old games, associated cables, it all takes up space, and none of it plays well together. and if your playstation 2 stops working, you either get on ebay and replace it or chuck your game collection in the trash.

in contrast, say i'm a PC gamer. I can buy a gaming laptop and it can contain the ability to play every single video game I've purchased in the last 10 years, I can access almost all of them digitally through Steam/Origin/Bnet/etc, I can install games on the computer as long as it's not compatible with modern operating systems or something.

it's just common sense imo to consolidate. tons of other industries have done this, look at when mp3s became big, streaming movies, etc. gaming is like a decade behind tech in a lot of ways
