If you want to be really hardcore and fill out the affinity chart to the best of your abilities, you have to follow every npc around for the whole day, talking to them again every time they move, because sometimes they only say the thing that will update their relationship to someone else during the short time they're walking from one location to another. And then you gotta do it again every time you finish a quest that could relate to those people.

ok not doing that

I will do quests as i come across them and talk to named NPCs here and there

but i don't have time for something that tedious
