Rey stole the books already yes, but that also made the entire "book burning" scene pointless as the whole point of Yoda burning down the tree was to show Luke that the books don't have meaning, which is a symptom of the movie being poorly written as whole. --- The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him.
