Where do you live (generally)? Food prices vary a lot across the country. (I'm assuming you're American.) That seems high to me, but not extraordinarily so. With food you really need to drill down in your analysis. What are you eating? Is it in season? Do you buy things on sale? Do you use coupons? Do you consume all leftovers?

And do you eat out?

You also have to balance gas and food. Does it really make sense to go to three stores to get the best deals on food (just an example), or are you eating up all those savings by using extra gas?
