I think Paul Feig being director and his willingness to indulge in and encourage improv on the part of the actors was probably the primary factor for that movie being a massive shit-show, leading me to believe it would have been terrible regardless of who they cast.

On the flip-side, those particular actresses aren't universally terrible in everything else they do, so I can only assume that with an actual decent script and skilled direction, it could have been a worthwhile movie even with the emphasis on "lolwomen!"

I kind of feel the same way about Oceans 8, though we'll see how that particular one goes.
