As for what Ford's doing in relation to the Man in Black....I don't think Ford gives a single shit about him. Will was convinced in S1 that the maze was an elaborate game designed for hardcore players, but it wasn't. He's convinced in S2 that Ford is still messing with him from beyond the grave, but he clearly isn't.
