Im not so sure that most people think the original is the cheap stuff in the US...

It's what that Golden guy is doing right now
along with a few others in here that tried to say adding things to your ramen makes it "not ramen"

You need to stop taking expressions so literally. When someone says something like "McDonald's isn't food," they (usually) do not literally believe McDonald's to be some other mysterious non-food entity. They know McDonald's is food, they just believe it to be so distanced from what they believe to be true food that it feels like something completely different.

The idea of an actual restaurant specializing in ramen is hilarious. If you have a more mature sense of humor than me, maybe it's not, but don't play dumb, you get the idea behind the joke, even if you don't believe it's a good joke. It's like the idea of a restaurant specializing in peanut butter and jelly. Those actually exist, too, and those are just as hilarious XD

The idea of taking something like peanut butter and jelly, or ramen, and turning it into a gourmet meal is just funny. Or maybe not funny if you're above such juvenile humor, or if you think ramen is "serious business" for some reason.
