If we had open borders, billions of people would try to go to the US. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but we would quickly become the most populated country in the world. Our infrastructure, both tangibly and intangibly, can't handle that. And if we make an exception for some illegal immigrants, we would have to make an exception for all illegal immigrants. We should definitely have an immigration system that processes decisiions quickly and efficiently.
