Maybe video game sales alone make it 2nd, but Pokemon is the biggest media franchise in the world. It's grossed more than Star Wars. Problem is, while the Pokemon games seem to be tied to Nintendo consoles, the IP itself doesn't belong to Nintendo alone. On paper they have about 1/3 ownership, with the possibility of more due to having shares in one of the other companies. Game Freak has another solid 1/3 though. That's probably why people don't really consider it a main Nintendo property, even though 95% of the games have been Nintendo console exclusives. --- "Evil is what you make of it.
