I feel weird that theres a real comparison to be made there that isnt the dark souls of x, because its hard!

If anything, when Ive seen Souls and Hollow Knight compared elsewhere and someone mentions difficulty, thats the one part I dont actually agree with.
Its definitely tough at times but not really in the same ways Souls is. The majority of my deaths have been platforming related, only a couple bosses have stonewalled me so far. Ive heard it gets pretty gnarly later on though. Still, its Dark Souls because its hard is always a silly comp.
It's not compared to Dark Souls solely because of its difficulty. I think it's actually compared to it so often because of their similar use of storytelling. Both games are pretty rich in lore, but most of it is only explained through NPC dialogue or the world itself. There's a lot you can easily miss out on.
