More or less, that God indirectly wrote the Bible.

Looking deeper, it equates Jesus with Scripture based on what we see in John 1.

How does anyone know that god was supposed to be an indirect author of the Bible? It takes more trust than I'm willing to give to believe that a higher being was talking to them and they wrote it down.

Well that's up to you.

Though it's a little more involved than God telling people what to write down. For example, Solomon was given wisdom from God which he then used to write his works. In another example, Jesus found desciples who would then record his life. Etc.
