Because that's exactly how price elasticities and price thresholds work. Don't even look at what your peers are doing, just raise price in the hopes of a lot of risk and zero reward. This idea is terrible on several levels.

Let's raise wages to one million dollars an hour, raise prices to be like 200k per burger or something, and then drop minimum wage back down to whatever it is after everyone has worked an hour.

This way, everything will be expensive for that hour but then back to normal right after. Same with money, everyone will have a million dollars after working that hour and will be set for life.

Problem solved, it's basically the purge but minimum wage.
