I actually have six different units in my house, partly because I don't feel like going to the hassle of getting central air, but also because I don't like the all-or-nothing potential for central air to stop working.

I have both, mostly because there have been times that my central air has gone out. I'm honestly not sure that I'd rent or buy a property without central air.

On a quasi-related side-note, I might cave and buy solar panels within the next few years since every few years lately there seems to be a storm that knocks out power for like a week.
