It is not uncommon for young cashiers to think they are counterfeits, or are worth different amounts than they are. One had a mcdonald's cashier a few susan b anthony coins and he thought they were quarters. Had to get a manager involved for him to take them. We got a couple newer 2 dollar bills at McDonalds as change once. The cashier asked me if it was okay first. Last time I went to the post office I got a gold dollar coin for change instead of a quarter. The guy just wasnt paying attention with that one.
