Is this supposed to guilt trip car manufacturers or something? They have no duty to design for the safety of pedestrians being hit by a fucking car. Their obligation is to design for the safety of the car's occupants.

Car manufacturers have no obligation to make their cars not death machines for everyone outside of them? You sure?

They have an obligation to not make the front bumper a giant bayonet, sure.

But if a pedestrian is getting hit by a car, all assumptions are out the window. The rules of the road have been violated somehow by either the driver or pedestrian, putting the pedestrian in grave danger. This should not be something that stifles automobile innovation.
