Well, the simple answer is that it isn't. Chicken is the cheapest type of meat. However, chicken and pork are going to be cheaper than beef because beef is more expensive to raise.


I wonder if that's just a regional thing. I'm in Alberta, beef country, and pork/beef are pretty close to the same price with pork being slightly cheaper... but chicken is the MOST expensive (excluding premium cuts of course)


That's just weird, considering that chickens don't require much space and their dietary requirements tend to be cheaper.

It's more expensive for boneless skinless breasts but cheap chicken cuts are cheaper than anything else. Turkey is down there

The real MVP for cheap protein goes to lentils
