Because of the nature of geopolitics and the world situation at this point, we could have somehow managed to vote in the best possible candidate the US has ever seen, and STILL see economic downturn, because a lot of our current economic downturn is the result of rebalancing factors predicated on things entirely outside of our control as a nation. That could happen, but in most discussions you'd want to present a reason as to why.
