The law, as it's written, requires a fine and/or imprisonment for the actions she took. The FBI/Comey dismissed those charges based on a made up standard of intent.

If they would have applied the law, their favored presidential candidate either would have either been imprisoned or would have been officially charged with a crime during the election year. The effect would be that the Democratic Party would have to either rush to switch candidates post primary or continue running a candidate who just got charged with and paid a fine for a crime. Both options would have seemingly made the race against Trump much harder.

Like, are you waiting for a leaked text to come out that specifically says "we need to let Clinton off the hook because she's our only chance of beating Trump" before you can admit that their bias had an effect?
