This is exactly why nobody ever faults Bob Hoskins (and sometimes also John Leguizamo) for doing the Mario movie.
Slightly less so for Dennis Hopper, but he'd already ran out of fucks to give about twenty years prior.

I read in a magazine some years back that Hopper's eight(?) year old son asked him why he was in the SMB movie. 'To buy you shoes,' Hopper answered. 'I didn't need shoes that bad,' the tyke countered.
