I went to a good school (an Ivy, many moons ago) and most non-math and science majors even get to calculus. YMMV. It's not really a statement about the quality of a school or anything, but rather the national standards set for math achievement in high school. In addition, the SAT/ACT covers math up but not including calculus (Geometry, Algebra 1-2, Trig) and these tests are developed to test explicitly high school knowledge. Now that doesn't mean that everyone retains that information when they get to college obviously, but that doesn't make it any less remedial. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
