So like if a parent named their child "Joe" with the intent for it to be pronounced "Joey", but everyone pronounced it like the regular "Joe", then the latter was the correct pronunciation. That baffled me.


It's kinda true in regards to linguistics, except for proper nouns like the name, because that's how language work. I say kinda true because you don't need a majority, and you can have multiple correct usages, or pronunciations.
