To be fair, the calculation is different for people with a spouse and kids, but they also expect to have medical expenses more regularly.


Which if you're young and healthy would be a rare occurance overall and after years of saving on premiums and HSA contributions those would cover the unexpected medical expense up to your out of pocket max most likely depending on the cost differences.

If you're a family yeah it probably won't make sense to be on a HDHP.
