There's no story to hook you in, as most episodes can be watched standalone, whereas something with a good story will have you wanting to keep going to further the plot and see new developments. P&R has a running story, though, even if the episodes are also self-contained. Each season is usually built around a few major plot points and many of the episodes advance that central plot. Plus you have things like the romance subplots. I've routinely binged more episodic stuff, whether it's episodic anime (like Saiki K), cartoons, live-action, etc. Granted, you very rarely seem to have 100% self-contained episodic content any more.
