Flair is proud to still be your WWF Champion, but he's already looking ahead to the next challenge. JJ Dillon has allowed him and Ventura, as world champs, to pick the stips for their defenses at Heavy Metal Mayhem, as long as they fit the theme. Well, Flair is a sixty minute man....and his opponent will have to be, too, because that will be an IRONMAN MATCH! Starting tomorrow night, a gauntlet of candidates will face each other to prove who has the staying power to face him! (92) Our opening bout is Tenryu vs. a very frustrated Bruno. Bruno is aggressive and wild, and the cool Tenryu is able to bait him into several mistakes...eventually scoring an upset win! (71) Velvet MacIntyre is very proud to be the first WWF Women's Champion! (49) After falling short in the title match, Vivian Vachon and Leilani Kai square off, with Kai going over. (43, great chemistry) Sheik and Jake are backstage. Sheik wants Jake to join "the dark side," but Jake says his little plan with Razor was a one-time deal, and not one that even worked out well for him. Jake's a bit crafty, but he has morals....trust him. (74) PARKAMANIA are similarly NOT GONNA GIVE UP after losing. You pick yourself back up and keep going and that's the MEXICAN AND/OR AMERICAN WAY, HERMANO! (60) Steamboat and Michaels face off with Style and Substance. Nothing much new here, but the heels go over after a bit of a Heenan assist. (48) Their post-match celebration is cut a bit short by a funky drum beat! ...His name is TONY ATLAS and he's here to SAY! Martel wins his matches in a dirty WAY! He needs to start over with a clean EASEL, clean up his act, and ditch the WEASEL! Nobody really knows what to do with this, least of all Martel. (63; Atlas' Rapper [Fun] gets 86) Muraco and Blackwell face Leon White and Sika, who are apparently now teaming as the Super Albano Brothers. They haven't quite gotten all the bugs out of their teamwork, but neither have the faces. The faces have a lot more plot armor, though. (55; Muraco/Blackwell poor chem; White/Albano awful chem) Death and Taxes note that they are still here after Triangle Trauma, with the bounty unpaid! They're gonna up the ante- at (most likely the preshow of) Heavy Metal Mayhem, they'll have a GOLDEN BATTLE ROYAL, with a suitcase of gold going to the winner! (57) Barbarian has a random but fun match with Tully. Blanchard gets the win, but the former tag champ makes a good account of himself. (78) Lawler gets in Hansen's face and warns him to stay out of his way and Ventura's. Hansen got lucky, but he should watch his back. He's not the champ anymore, and he's not gonna be the big guy here much longer, either. (86) Lawler then capitalizes his point with a big win over Brad Rheingans. (79) Ventura joins Lawler in the ring, to announce that he wants a CHAIN MATCH for his defense! He just doesn't know who's crazy enough to take him up on the offer, even for a title shot. It looks like the challenge is going to go unanswered...until TERRY FUNK comes out, with Dory backing him up! Both men seem to be looking forward to it. (67) Overall: 81 SUCCESS NEWS -Tully promotes WWF on National TV -Velvet MacIntyre Rising -CWA get Bob Bradley -WCCW gets 79 (ME: Colon d. Orndorff) --- Look at all those chickens I can be impulsive!
