[but] its easy to fall into that trap & say, my kids deserve this, and maybe gov't should help me'" People have just been cutting apart the actual quote to make it look worse. Nobody is saying people don't want education or healthcare for their kids. They're just towing the republican line of "it'll be better and more affordable in the free market".
