Have you ever lost a game on purpose to make your opponent feel better?
No, I don't play against other people.

There are a wide range of yes and no responses on the assumption that there is another person to lose against. But what if that assumption is false?

No, I don't know the people I play against.

Or if the assumption is true what if you don't know that person? If you were randomly matched against someone you wouldn't be aware of whether they feel better as a result of your actions or not. Going easy on them might give the a false impression of the effectiveness of their strategy, or deprive them of learning from what your victory over them demonstrates about the games mechanics.

This seems like it should be a simple yes or no question. Adding qualifiers to your yes or no response means that you are now answering a myriad of other implied questions. Some of which are not adequately represented in the available options.

Do you play this type of of game?
Can you judge the reaction of the person you were playing against?
What is your relationship to that person?
Can you win against that person if you wanted to?
How much of an advantage did you give that person?
