18. Wiegraf Folles (Final Fantasy Tactics)

The Good
: He's part of some of the best battles in the game, and not just because of the difficulty (and they can all be pretty tough if you're not properly prepared). It's because they have a great atmosphere and are so dialogue-heavy. The battle of words between Ramza and Wiegraf might be better than the battle of swords. It's also interesting how the two of them essentially switch places over the course of the game to the point that Ramza's greatest disappointment is the fact that Wiegraf sold out and gave up on a cause he now finds himself agreeing with.

The Bad: That being said, it's a minor thing, but Wiegraf might go a little too far once he surrenders to Lucavi and becomes Velius (or Belias if you prefer the inferior translation) because he essentially loses his own will. The fact that he stops caring about Miluda's death shows how far gone he is, but at that point, there wasn't anything more they could do with the character, so they just had to go ahead and kill him off.

The Best: The battle at Riovanes Castle is probably my favorite fight in Tactics and one of my favorites in the entire series. I love the transition from one-on-one duel to a group fight with Velius and his minions, and I have good memories of barely winning that fight, such as killing him with my last character alive in critical condition with a desperation terrain attack during my Geomancer SCC.
