Because Donny Trump has the best interests of African-Americans in mind, that's why he said something along the lines of "good people on both sides" in reference to the alt-right when they had their little march all that time ago. Going too far on either side of the political scale will make you an idiot regardless of which side you're apart of.

Trump wasn't referring to the alt-right. At Charlottesville, there were some white supremacist and neo-nazi groups, people from Antifa, people from BLM, but there were also a lot of ordinary people who simply disagreed about the statues. When Trump said there were good people on both sides, he was talking about the ordinary citizens who just disagreed on what should be done with the statues, not people from racist/extremist groups.

on one hand, i agree that the statue preservation coalition was an unholy alliance that included not only the alt-right and southern nationalists, but also innocuous heritage types and history nerds - and history nerds are fine people

on the other hand the speech was probably crafted by bannon, and while i don't hate the guy, there was likely intent to pander to the alt-right portion of trump's constituency given bannon's nrx associations and sympathies

such was why i believe he was dismissed shortly thereafter
