Better: Any state not currently on fire? I guess NY

Worse: idk, maybe Michigan. Guess Mississippi is also a safe choice

is that a perpetual thing now? I mean what did the people in CA do to the trees to make em dry out? is the smog that bad? geeesh

It's been going for a pretty long time. The past year or two is a mix of dry weather and then they've blamed a power company for transformers exploding and starting many of the blazes. California has always had wildfires (up until this year, the largest fire took place in the 1800s), although it's become more frequent in recent years (afaik largely due to water shortages, which may partly relate to an over-use on farms)

Worse: Arizona (but I don't think it's a "bad" state. I just named this one because I've been there and I also know this state's association with potential racial profiling issues, attempting banning of ethnic studies, and the Sheriff Arpaio.)

It also has more problems with illegal immigrants than other states so... that kinda comes with the territory.

Worse....I can't think of any so lets go with a city. Detroit.

That's why Michigan is always a safe bet. Not only does it have Detroit, but it has Flint which made national headlines for its tainted water (iirc due to a cleansing chemical treatment damaging the infrastructure)
