In a lot of settings, especially ones inspired by D&D, healing is more god magic than arcane magic, so you won't be using it and wizard spells unless you're somehow multiclassing or finding loopholes in the system.

It's the same reason why Final Fantasy always split magic up into the healing magic of the White Mage (or Priest), while all the really good offensive stuff was the purview of the Black Mage (or Wizard).


Yes, but in 3.5 and Pathfinder at least, (I don't know about the other versions) healing spells (like Cure Light Wounds) are still part of the conjuration school. It's divine magic, but all divine spells still fall into a school somewhere, even if the casters don't generally have something that affects certain schools.
