TopicWhy intelligent people are less likely to have sex

Sounds like reassurance for people who don't get laid. And the study argument isn't necessarily a matter of intelligence so much as it is habits. A lot of stupid people study an absurd amount of time for good grades, whereas smart people could get those same grades with far less studying (which is how I was able to juggle school and work easily). However, studying while in school definitely cuts into a social life which, in turn, could lower the opportunities for casual hookups.

And, of course, the story doesn't seem to include that many details regarding the study so there's no telling how legitimate it might be.

It's put up by The Sun so no not at all.

Is that the cnn of old America?

CNN isn't a tabloid. CNN's unreliability comes from shoddy journalism practices and editorial bias whereas the Sun (being a tabloid) is the old form of clickbait, sensationalist headlines and stories that do more to titillate the public than inform them.

That's a rather misleading headline. The statistic in question seems to be the number of different sexual partners the people have had, not the amount of sex they have, which are very different concepts. Furthermore, the whole "smart people spend more time studying and less time sexing" thing ceases to be at all applicable past university, since being more intelligent decreases the average number of hours needed to work in order to survive. It does indeed sound to me like a bunch of "experts" trying to explain why they aren't getting any and refusing to accept the actual answer of "because you aren't doing anything to attract women."

The high school and college part of the argument seems to be relevant in terms of when people first lose their virginity.

"because you aren't doing anything to attract women."

Kind of a creepy response which suggests that all of the autonomy is in the hands of women, in that they approach you and initiate every phase whereas, in reality, it's almost always the guys who approach. A lot of guys don't have sex until later in life because they expect women to just approach them instead of making the first move at every step.

Intelligent people are more likely to have social anxiety or be depressed so there's that.

While intelligence is associated with a susceptibility to certain mental illnesses (particularly when it comes to creative people), the claim about depression is largely unproven and is more a long-standing myth perpetuated by popular culture than anything else.
