A lot of Southerners are brainwashed into thinking the Civil War was about the innocent south fighting the evil oppressive North over "states rights". Just like a lot of Southerners were brainwashed back in the civil War. Even now, poor Southerners are brainwashed into fighting for the rich at their own expense.
