The hike is super easy. First mile is only remotely challenging part. Just hug the cliff wall and be wary of horses going up and down that first mile of switchbacks. Other than that, bring plenty of fluids because it's hot as balls here in AZ. Just take plenty of rest breaks. I did the hike down in a little over 2 hours and my ankles we're pretty much done.

Also do yourself a favor and avoid talking to 90% of the natives. The town and people are pretty much garbage tier. Mistreatment of animals, kids will straight up call you every bad word you could imagine, average of 1-2 arrests a week in a town of only 200-300. It's okay, most of them will die from diabetes in a few years anyway. Location is beautiful though. Enjoy.

Thanks for the advice! I heard that after that first mile or so it's pretty flat walking. I was planning on snagging some walking sticks just in case because I've never hiked 10 miles before and with what you said about your ankles that might be a good idea. I did buy a hydration bladder and an extra water bottle so hopefully I'll be okay on water for the 8 miles until we get to town. I think we're going to start the hike really early in the morning to avoid having it be too too hot. We have headlamps and flashlights.
