Oh, then that's in the manga too sorta. Deku is supposedly really good at analyzing his opponents and coming up strategies and tactics based on what he's seen them do. It's the author's way of showing just what Deku is good at doing.

There's some chapters where they dedicate a couple of pages with the character's inner dialogue and how they're thinking through the situation. Not the best way of doing it if you're trying to make an action scene flow smoothly, admittedly, but IMO it's better than having these students suddenly come up with the perfect countermeasure to whatever they're facing out of their ass, and show that they're actually learning.

Add on top of that the standard, "this is what happened in the last episode" recap, and it does feel like there are a lot more flashbacks and internal dialogues than usual.


Just because it's in the manga doesn't make it good, or a smart decision.

It treats the audience like they're an idiot who can't remember what happened a few episodes back. Or that they can't just sort of figure out what's going on from context clues.
