The DCEU is the "Man About Cake" of film franchises.

I hope to God no one gets this reference.

I googled that and... ended up watching 1 whole video and it was dumb.

Spoiler alert I only know about the show because of Lindsay Ellis' recent essay about YouTube and authenticity. She watches "How to Cake It", an older channel, and compares it to "Man About Cake" and comments about how MAC apes the production style of HTCI for a manufactured reach towards authenticity but never actually makes it the way HTCI does, and she goes deep into the idea of "why do people care so much about YT as a platform and what does it mean by "authenticity". Also, she calls out HTCI for its multiple calls to action per episode, and fully admits to being a fan of the show regardless.

My point being what most of us already know: that the DCEU is desperately trying to manufacture itself into the same kind of body as the MCU, but is lacking the heart and commitment to find out what really got everyone involved: they think they're hitting all the points with their filmmaking styles and character hyping and, while they're enjoying a very moderate success, they're still far from capturing what Marvel has.
