I recall taking a typing class in college, where I was required to write 45+ WPM to get into a medical program (I scored 78). The requirement for the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) was 15. I burst out laughing in class. Why? Compare the amount of knowledge/schooling/training one needs to be a police officer, compared to other life/death services that aid the public - nursing comes to mind. The majority of police officers in Canada/USA receive inadequate training, and the low-bar set for the average police force contributes to the bad image the police have to many.
