And you forgot about Samus Returns in 2017. Even if we discount FF, 7 years is not even the longest hiatus Metroid has had. Super Metroid what a franchise killer. Also Other M was only part of the hiatus. Next Level pitched Federation Force before Luigi's Mansion 2 but got assigned that instead, then FF was restricted by tech until the New 3DS came out. Then Samus Returns was held back by that. And the failure of the Wii U was definitely a factor in the lack of console Metroid games in that time. It is easy to imagine a world where Other M does fine and there is still a long hiatus. --- I just decided to change this sig.
