Well, you should check all your change to see if you have something valuable.

if you want to go the easy route, look up key dates worth money(such as in pennies 1909 S vdb, and a few other key dates), obvious varieties worth money such as a 1955 double die obverse, obvious erros such as a clipped planchet, mule coin and silver coins(any dime pre 1965, any quarter pre 1965, any half dollar pre 1970 and nickels 1942-45).

If you want to get serious get either a jewlers loupe with 10x mag or better, or even some type of microscope to see very minute errors that could be worth thousands, such as a 1992 "close am" penny wherein the spacing between the A and M in "america" determines if its worth one cent or a thousand bucks. the difference in spacing is about as thick as 1-2 sheets of computer paper.

I think its fun with a potential payoff. Even if it bores you, at least knowing the obvious stuff to look for would help.

and while I dont care too much about foreign currency(Im in this game to make money, not necessarily start a collection) a 100 trillion zimbabwe note is something id love to own.
