The king of the castle finds out that the princess is trying to elope with a dashing rogue so he locks her in the in the tallest of 3 towers, the middle tower. Then he takes the key and leaves the castle. He walks the long road to the lake to hide the key. He walks around the lake and then when he heads back to the castle, instead of doubling back on himself he keeps walking the other route back to the castle to ensure he was not followed.
