I think it has its share of flaws but curious which one(s) are gamebreaking for you Battle rankings being determined solely by turn count, and there's no way to know what the limit is for a certain rank until you've already passed it. And since battle rankings determine EXP (and I think money? It's been a while), you have to get good rankings to avoid turning the game into a grindfest. Often, that entails throwing all semblance of strategy out the window and running through maps like a madman with overpowered Scouts, just hoping that they don't get unlucky enough that they die. If you want to play it like an actual strategy game, you'll have to get used to coming to a screeching halt every couple of missions to grind skirmishes. Those are both bad gameplay loops. I also can't stand the story or any of the characters.
