You can get tons of clearing and crossing points but if you flub up your assignment once and give an unimpeded goal, it's pointless. More specifically Rocket League is largely binary. Your success is the sum of your goals/assists minus your coverage failures. Simply accomplishing lots of low-quality clear and crosses is meaningless and sometimes even detrimental.
