I liked it. The more distance I have from it, the more issues I have though. I guess the biggest ones I have are weak characterization. Cassian was really bland and generic, but I did kinda like Jyn Erso. She needed a bit more though. The other friends were cool but also could have used just a touch more personality.

Saw Gerrara needed to be a bit more thought out and he could have been a really iconic character. Instead hes just a a weirdo who is in the movie for 5 minutes.

Also this was billed as more of a heist movie to steal the death star plans... but it turns into a giant big budget space battle at the end. Even though the last act is the best part, I'm not a fan of this. Every big budget movie feels like it needs to be a giant action scene at the end, but they could have done something a lot more interesting. Especially since they had a core group of 6 specialists to base a heist around.

Lastly, where were the bothans?

All in all, I think this movie would have been better if they had taken more time to develope it, instead of rushing to produce something as soon as they got the rights. They said recently they are going to slow down on releasing more movies, so hopefully that improves their approach. The problem they have isn't that they are making too many Star Wars movies, the problem is that hey are pushing out movies without really fully thinking them through or why the movie should even be made.
