When people are attacking other people you can act preemptively in self defense. Conner couldn't get to khabib as he was being held back so he hit the guy attempting to get to his friend and attack. Are you the kind of guy that would see your friend getting pummeled at the bar, see the aggressors friend going to help and just sit back with your beer chilling? If there are dozens of police and security already involved, then you can bet your ass I am.
