History and context

Yep.

Monkey is not a bad word, but it becomes a slur if you use it to refer to a black person.

Literally any word could develop a slur definition.

Our entire world is colored, but it might be a bad idea to call blacks "coloreds".

Calling someone an animal is much different than using a word that isnt a slur and appropriate, but just had some random movement against it cause a couple people were bored.

What makes colored appropriate? Is everyone else colorless?

I mean, you're right that combinations of sounds aren't inherently offensive and racist, but if you combine them with history and context, they can develop an additional definition that is considered a slur in certain contexts.

Colored is not a scientific term, opposed to the other two. And all these terms werent ever really slurs, definitely not the other two. Colored was used in the south as a normal thing with white and black people until pretty recently, but it is somewhat of a weird term, so that is whatever.
