Regardless of their views, my opinion is that people of influence who aren't politicians should stay out of politics. I agree, we elect people to argue about politics for us, that is their job. The more society spews their political opinions for everyone to hear, the more divisive a society they become. People should be judged on their character, not who they vote for. Then, to what extent do we draw the line? Political preferences? Views on controversial issues like abortion, healthcare reform, gun control, environmental advocacy, welfare, etc? Gender and sexual preferences? I completely agree, it creates a sort of 'where is it appropriate and where isn't it, and why are certain things allowed but not others'. So yeah, whilst I still personally think people shouldn't, I'm not promoting the idea they should somehow be prevented from it. It's just another thing that could influence people. People will do whatever they want to do, including follow in the footsteps of their idols.
