However, it's actually stated in OoT by one of the Gorons, that while their species could theoretically eat rocks that exist outside of the cavern, that they had simply gotten used to eating the delicious rocks, and couldn't eat the other types any more. --- YOU COULDN'T AFFORD IT! ...
