to appease advertisers

Huh, so you don't like the free market when it doesn't do what you want?

No, it's only because of the Free Market that this isn't as annoying as it could be.
There is still a demand for unfiltered content, and because there is a demand other websites prop up to fulfill it.

Youtube has actually taken quite a bit of Streamers from Twitch because of their policy changes. Youtube Live is making their push to compete and they basically have no rules on their platform. You can practically do or say anything on Youtube live as long as it's not a crime or pornography. You can say the N word for 4 hours straight on Youtube live and not get banned. You can broadcast fights, criticize others, drink as much as you want, they literally don't give a single fuck as long as you are following the law.

You also have voat and 4chan which are platforms where the users can say and do watever the fuck the want.

I mean, it's kind of the cycle of these platforms anyway. Remember Digg? Then Reddit came out as a free platform and took its place. Perhaps in 5 years after all the bans, reddit will be replaced by something else.

I'm more complaining about these companies tanking their services to appeal to corporate than I am about the market itself.

I'm fine with not going to Twitch, I watch Youtube Live instead
