You mow a lawn, you think "damn that looks nice". You shovel a sidewalk, you think "fuck it all".
Only if you actually care about your lawn, and actively maintain it in ways above and beyond simply mowing. To have a lawn that actually looks really nice, you're almost certainly fertilizing it and using weed killer as well. And potentially having to water it on a semi-regular basis.
Personally, when I mow my lawn, I basically think "Good, now I won't get a fine for my grass being too high", and when I shovel snow, I think "Good, now people can get in and out of my house without risk of slipping, and I don't have to worry about getting sued if someone slips."
I've never had anything resembling a sense of actual satisfaction from either. If I could, I'd pave every inch of my yard to never have to mow or weed again.
