That may honestly be the first time I've ever seen "casualbait" applied to a JRPG character. Fire Emblem has legit strength here. Not enough to compete with the major Squintendo franchises, but not nonexistent. You look at the games contests, everyone says that Fire Emblem's super-weak but the franchise is a respectable 3-4 in Games Contest matches. (Admittedly, they got a really lucky draw in GotD.) To be fair, the game Lucina appears in literally has an option called "Casual Mode". Okay, you got me there. FE really has dumbed itself down to try to appeal to the masses. And admittedly, I've become spoiled by said casual mode and have found myself legitimately challenged by going back to games that don't have it. (I always use Classic Mode for my first playthrough but the "Waifu Era" makes it so much more time-consuming to grind out a 100% Support Log, which is something I was able to do in both Blazing Blade and Sacred Stones. I've always been on board with story being a primary consideration, and I've got a very long rant cued up for a guest spot on the Analysis Crew that relates to that subject! Although to be honest, the Avatar is really what makes Waifu Emblem so tedious; the children aspect was really good in FE4 and we need a remake/first international release of that game so bad.) --- "Someday I'll catch up, and then you'll all be surprised!"
