I feel we shouldn't even have parties and furthermore candidates aren't allowed to label themselves conservative or liberal in campaign ads. Make them say exactly how they feel about all current major issues and force the voters to pay attention to that instead of just voting based on what party they represent. Sadly that's an impossibility. Within any issue there's simply a limited amount of stances that one can take. Over a series of issues a certain trend will get revealed and people will group themselves according to said trend.
